Itoya Ginza, a Temple for Stationery Lovers in Tokyo

If you love stationery, Tokyo’s Itoya is nothing short of a dream come true. Established in 1904, although there are several branches, the legendary flagship in the centre of Ginza is certainly a beloved haven for paper enthusiasts, artists, writers, and anyone who still finds happiness in the feel of a beautifully crafted pen.
Japanese stationery is renowned not only for the high quality of its products but also for its meticulous attention to detail.
Each of the 12 floors is dedicated to a specific subject. An extensive selection of every mechanical pencil and ballpoint pen imaginable. Vibrant notebooks, calligraphy supplies, travel accessories, and office essentials. A floor for agendas—if you can't find one you like, then head to the customised agenda atelier where you can personalise notebooks and choose from a vast array of papers, layouts, and cover colours.
A wonderful floor dedicated to creating your own stationery features a large wall with swatches in every colour imaginable. Select the swatches you want and have the paper cut to the desired size or to fit an envelope.
Walking through Itoya feels like entering a colour gallery and playground. It’s beautifully designed, carefully arranged, and full of delightful surprises—from limited-edition inks to whimsical washi tapes you won’t find anywhere else.
We were so mesmerised, we forgot to take more photos!!
