An exploration of the Tokyo International Robot Exhibition

If you are in Japan, GO to the International Robot Exhibition at Tokyo Big Sight!  You are witnessing the future of humanity (and non-humanity) at the dawn of its era - perhaps one day to receive its own scientific classification?  The Robotolithic age?

IREX takes place at the Tokyo Big Sight (Tokyo International Exhibition Centre) on the waterfront of Tokyo Bay. The complex is worth visiting just for the experience of being in a futuristic city on the set of a sci-fi film. It reminded us of Caprica from the modern Battlestar Galactica!

The Tokyo International Robot Exhibition (IREX) is the largest robot trade show in the world. IREX brings together approximately 500 Japanese robot manufacturers and related companies, along with over 50 international exhibitors. Attendees include 100,000 local technicians and professionals.

IREX is comprised of two main categories: large industrial robots (IR) and smaller, more compact service robots (SR). It also includes small production systems and robots used in research from government, industry, and academia, spanning fields such as medicine, manufacturing, and security, among others.
